Creating the First Domino in your Animation

The first glass domino will be placed at the intersections of the X, Y, and Z coordinates. To put the cursor there enter SHIFT-C. Select the "Side" view. Then create the cube: space bar -> Add -> Mesh -> Cube. Our tiles will be 5 units long so make the cube 5 units larger in the Y direction (S Y 2.5 Enter). Select the fron view. Make the tile 0.1 units wide (s x 0.1 ENTER). Now move the domino up so it is just setting on the table (g z 1 ENTER). So now we have domino # 1.

Coloring the First Domino in your Animation

We want to create additional dominos to stack on top of the first domino. To make things simple for our first test we will color the first domino, select some options before stacking duplicates. Domino #1 should still be selected, if not select it now. Click on "Panels" -> "Shading" -> "Material" (or F5). In the Links and Pipeline click on "Add New". In the "Material" panel click on the blank button just to the left of the "Col" button (you have done this before). Select a color for the domino in the color chooser and move the cursor off of the color chooser popup. Your domino will now be colored with your selection.

Click on the "Dyn" button and then click the "Restitute" button. Enter about 0.7 in that field. This is the amount of "bounce" we want the domino to have in this animation.

Duplicating the Domino

With the first domino still selected click on "Object" -> "Duplicate" then enter (or Shift-D ENTER). If you accidentally move the domino just press escape and start again with the duplication. Enter (g z 2 ENTER) to put the second domino on top of the first one. The second domino should now be selected. Duplicate that one and move it up 2 (g z 2 ENTER). Duplicate the top domino and move it up 2 units. You should now have 4 dominos stacked on one another. Save the file.

Making the Dominos Rigid

For this animation it probably would have been a good idea to do this before duplicating the first tile but we need to practice anyway. Click on "Pac Man" ("Panels" -> "Logic", or simply F4). For each domino, select the domino, click on "Static" and then "Rigid Body" from the pull down. Then click on "Bounds" so that "Box" shows as the bounding shape.
