The Wrapping Image.

Creating our Wrapping Image

If you look at the photo image to the left you will see that the individual pictures line up with the flattened cube above. To create the image you will need to open up a program that can build the image for you, Photoshop or Gimp or what ever you are used to using. You will need 6 images that are 512 pixels square. Create an empty image (1536 pixels wide, 2048 pixels high) to hold the photos. We will call this the "Wrap Image".

Load the first photo into your image editing program, copy it, and paste in the wrap image. Move this photo to the left side of the wrap image appriximately where image #2 is in the example to the left. Now load and paste the second image, moving it to image #1's position in the example to the left. Now CAREFULLY adjust the two photos you pasted so the corners just exactly touch (but not overlap). Load in the rest of your photos moving them to positions so that the positions of the photos in your wrap image look like the example. Save your new wrap image.

Loading and Using the Wrap Image

You can get rid of the right screen (Join Area). Then select the cube again and select the "Texture" panel ("Panels" -> "Shading" -> "Texture" (or F6). In the texture panel, under "Texture Type" click "None". Select "Image" from the list. Go to the "Image" panel and click "Load". From the directory select and load in your wrap image.

"F5" to the material panel and select the cube in the "Preview" panel. Select the "Map Input" panel and then "UV" (next to the "ORCO" button. Now render a single image (F12) to make sure the cube is wrapped with your photos. With the information from the previous tutorials your should now be able to create an animation of your photo cube.
