Adding an Image to the Cube

This tutorial will make a lot more sense if you have gone through Blender tutorials #1 and #2. To begin: start Blender, we will work with the default cube. The default "Camera" view will also work just fine, select that now. Then select the cube.

First Unwrapping Seam.

Unwrapping the mesh

In order to wrap the cube with one image with 6 pictures on it (an example of the final image is on Page 3) we will have to unwrap (or flatten) the cube mesh. It is on this flattened mesh that we will place our photo. Imagine you have a cardboard cube and want to unwrap it so it lays out flat. That's what we're going to do with the cube.

The cube has been selected in the camera view. We are going to select the edges that would be cut for taking off the top and one side. Go into edit mode (TAB), then edge select mode (Ctrl-tab-2 or click the edge select button), then select the first 5 edges that will be a seam for unwrapping the first part of the cube. The edges to select are numbered in the image to the left.

Then from the menu select "Mesh" -> "Edges" -> "Mark Seam"
